About Redeemer
Redeemer Presbyterian Church is a community of believers who have been changed by the grace of Jesus Christ. We are a warm and growing church family in downtown Decatur, committed to the historic Christian faith and the faithful teaching of God’s Word. Whether you have followed Christ for many years, are returning to church after time away, or are still considering the claims of Christianity, you are welcome to come, ask questions, and get to know us.
Each Sunday, we gather because God is worthy of our worship and because we need the grace he freely gives. Together, we pray, sing, confess our faith, and listen as his Word is read and preached. Our worship is simple, reverent, and joyful, centered on the good news that sinners are forgiven and made new through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We believe the church should be more than a place people attend. It is a family in which we learn to know, love, and serve the Lord together. We would be glad to welcome you to Redeemer and help you find your place among us.
Our Mission
Our mission is to gather and build up disciples in Decatur who know, love, and serve the Lord together. We long to see God use Redeemer to reach the lost with the good news of Jesus Christ, serve our neighbors in their times of need, and equip his people to live faithfully in every part of life. God has placed us in downtown Decatur, and we want to be a welcoming church family, a good neighbor to our community, and an open door to anyone in need of help or hope.
We are Reformed
Redeemer is Reformed because our beliefs are rooted in the historic Protestant Reformation and its recovery of the biblical gospel. We believe the Bible is God’s trustworthy Word, that salvation is entirely a gift of his grace, and that all of life is to be lived for his glory. We gladly confess the historic creeds of the Christian church and the Westminster Standards, which summarize what we believe the Scriptures teach. At the heart of our faith is the good news that sinners are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
We are Presbyterian
Redeemer is Presbyterian because we believe Christ cares for and leads his church through qualified elders chosen by the congregation. These elders share responsibility for teaching, shepherding, and overseeing the church, so that its leadership is both accountable and shared. We also believe that no congregation should stand alone. Redeemer is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, which connects us with other churches for mutual encouragement, accountability, and participation in the wider mission of Christ’s church.
